The MBRS-RISE program is an acronym for Minority Biomedical Research Support - Research Initiative for Scientific Enhancement. It provides research experience and academic and financial support. It is intended to encourage and increase participation of minority students in biomedical research at the undergraduate level.

The overall aim of the SDSU Minority Biomedical Research Support Program (MBRS) IMSD program is to increase the number of students from underrepresented groups who attain Ph.D. degrees in the biomedical, behavioral and physical sciences.

We will facilitate their exposure to science, academia and careers as researchers. The Minority Biomedical Research Support (MBRS) program provides a salary and a mentored laboratory research experience for minority students in the biomedical sciences at Rutgers University-Newark.

Doctoral students in the program also receive full tuition remission. Although not a training program per se, the NIH Minority Biomedical Support (MBS) program shares the MARC program's objective of increasing the number of minorities in research careers.

The MBS program is technically a program of inst itut tonal research proj eat g rants f unded by the NIH and ADAMHA, which employ f acuity and students at.

Minority Support. The Florida Education Fund (FEF) awards McKnight Doctoral Fellowships to African-American students newly admitted into selected doctoral degree programs at universities in the state.

The FEF provides a stipend of $12, for 12 months and a $5, allowance for fees, health insurance, computer equipment, books, and supplies, funded for a maximum of 3 years. NIH initiated minority-targeted research training programs inwhen it created the Minority Biomedical Research Support (MBRS) program 7 to provide support for biomedical research at minority institutions.

InNIH established the Minority Access to Research Careers (MARC) program to enable faculty at minority institutions to develop. Other Research mechanisms includes the following grants: Career Programs (K Awards), Cancer Education, Clinical Cooperative Groups, Pre-Doc Post-Doc Transition Awards, Minority Biomedical Research Support, Research Pathway in Residency, Resource Grants, International Research Training grants, Cooperative Conference Agreements, and Conference grants.
